How To Measure Standard Blinds and Shades:

Inside Mount Installation

window100.gif (1563 bytes)

To find width:  Measure exact distance to the nearest 1/8" between inside surfaces of window frame at the top, middle and bottom, and use the narrowest width.   do not make any width deductions.  Factory will make the appropriate deductions
To find height.  Measure exact distance to the nearest 1/8" from inside surface at top of window to sill at the left, middle and right and use the longest height.   If you prefer blind not to touch sill, deduct 1/4 inch.  If there is no sill, measure height point where blind is to reach.

Outside Mount Installation

window2.gif (3651 bytes)

To find width:  Measure exact distance to the nearest 1/8" between the outermost points where the blind is to be placed.  For optimum light control, this measurement should extend 3/4" beyond the window opening on each side (or 1 1/2" for the entire width).
To find height:  Measure exact distance to the nearest 1/8" from where top of blind will be located to top of sill.  If there is no sill or if blind is to overlap window frame, measure to point blind is to reach.

How To Measure Vertical Blinds:

Inside Mount Installation:

window3100.gif (1178 bytes)

Measure the width of the window at the top.  The factory will automatically deduct 1/4" for clearance.  Measure the height of the window from the top of the opening to the sill in 3 places.  Use the smallest dimension for the blind height.   The factory will automatically deduct 3/8".

Outside Mount Installation:

windowlast.gif (3429 bytes) Measure the width of the window plus 4" each side for light black out and privacy.   Give this measurement when ordering.  For perfect louver spacing, it is recommended that you round up the width measurements to the next standard size.   Measure the exact height of the window in two places.  Use the greater height.   Add the recommended overlap of 3" top and bottom for a total overlap of 6".  Use this measurement when ordering.

Ceiling Mount

Follow the instructions above with exceptions noted below.  For wall to wall installation, specify exact width at ceiling height, factory will automatically deduct 1/4"  For ceiling to floor blinds, measure to the top of the carpet pile in three places, use the smallest measurement.  Factory will automatically deduct 3/8".

Patio Doors

Outside Mount

secondslider.gif (2130 bytes) Measure the exact width of the patio door.  A minimum overlap of 4" on each side is recommended.  Outside mount projection brackets are recommended for patio doors with projecting handles.
